Whistler Winter Sports

Ice Skating For all you Winter enthusiasts, the time has come to whip out your winter gear and engage in some winter sports. With Whistler being rated one of the best Winter Resorts by Forbes Magazine and #1 Winter resort in the world by Askmen.com Whistler is the perfect place to kick back, relax, and partake in sports you never thought you would.

So what's out there? Of course, there's the 'always famous' skiing and snowboarding. A quick walk around the village and you'll find stores catering to snowboard and skiing equipment. But again, what other winter sports are out there for the regular guy or girl to do. Let's go through a list, shall we:

Ice Skating

Good 'ol ice skating. The foundation upon ice hockey and figure skating is built on. Ice skating provides fun for everyone. Whether you're by yourself, on a date, or with your family, everyone has fun ice skating (even if you're an amateur). Additionally, ice skating doesn't take much energy at all. When you get tired, you're always a few strides from the bench, or a cup of hot chocolate. And what else is better than cheap fun. I have never heard anyone complain about ice skating admission fees. SnowshoeingSnowshoeing

Snowshoeing is a great activity that allows you to enjoy the natural beauty of Whistler's outdoors. This is one of the best parts of snowshoeing. What else is better than walking a trail with fresh, shiny snow while the sun shines on your path. Take a breath...Do you smell that? It's FRESH AIR. Snowshoeing also provides a low impact work out that helps burn tons of calories! Snowshoeing is a sport for all ages, but it requires more physical work than ice skating. Nonetheless it's one the best Winter sports to engage. For more information on snowshoeing in Whistler, contact Whistler Outdoor Experience or for those more advanced snowshoers have a look at Whistler's website for available tours.

SnowmobilingSnowmobiling

One of the funnest and most exhilarating sports out there. From beginners, to professional snowmobiling provides an alternative to skiing and snowboarding. One of the great things is that you can ride as a passenger; so you can enjoy all the fun the sport has to offer without doing any work! One of the downfalls is that you're working a large machine, but once you get used to it, you'll find it was well worth it. For guided tours check out Canadian Snowmobile Adventures.

Cross Country Skiing

Similar to snowshoeing, cross country skiing brings you outdoors to experience Mother Nature at its finest. Engage Whistler's beautiful landscapes on a pair of skiis. Too much turkey or apple pie over the holidays? Don't worry, cross country skiing has your back. From experience, it's one of the most vigorous physical winter sports to engage. But if you're not here to burn fat, you can take the tours slowly and enjoy the scenery. For more information on the cross country trails and tours, have a look at Whistler Canada's website.
